LEADERSHIP
Border City Church is governed by the Biblical leadership model of a plurality of elders working together with deacons to lead and care for the church.
PAUL & MINDA NICHOLS
LEAD COUPLE / ELDERS TEAM
Paul leads our team of elders. He cares deeply about following Jesus and helping others to do the same. He has a playful sense of humor, loves to laugh and loves music. His favorite thing, other than sharing God's Word, is to enjoy good food with friends. He was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia.
Minda was raised in the suburbs of Detroit and after many years away is loving being home again. She loves deeply and is a strong leader. She's passionate about people stepping into their God-given purpose.
After being ordained into ministry in 2006 the Nichols moved to Johannesburg, South Africa where they led Sandton City Church (now Upper Room Church) for five years.
The Nichols serve on the New Covenant Ministries International (NCMI) Team and partner with the Team globally to plant and strengthen churches. Paul and Minda have two sons, Peter and John David.
RODNEY & NITA LLOYD
ELDERS TEAM
Rodney is a social creature who loves to chat and get to know you. He knows a lot about a lot of stuff and he's been trained in, studied and has taught scripture for many years. We are so privileged to have his insight and wisdom in our church family.
Nita is the warmest, kindest soul you'll meet. But don't let appearances fool you - she's also a fierce prayer warrior and loves to help others learn the power and simplicity of prayer. She loves God with all her heart and loves to see His goodness in people's lives. You will want to get to know her!
The Lloyds have been in ministry for over 45 years, serving in places around the world, particularly many years spent in Africa. They love to serve, care for and pastor folks of all ages in the church.
MICKEY MCCART
DEACON
Everybody loves Mickey! One chat with him and you'll walk away feeling like you met your best friend. We secretly think he's an angel in disguise!
Mickey is a graduate of College for Creative Studies here in Detroit, is a gifted creative and has the best style of anyone in the church! The love of Jesus dramatically changed his life and He's consumed with showing others this love.
BOB & KRIS STEENBERGH
DEACONS
Bob and Kris have been involved in ministry for over 25 years, serving in multiple areas of church life. They love people and are hospitable. They love the Word of God and the Spirit and are always encouraging others. Bob is also an excellent teacher of the scripture.
Bob enjoys hunting and Kris enjoys good food. They have three adult children.
PETER NICHOLS
DEACON
Peter plays the drums and loves music. His passion is the Word of God and sharing it to encourage and strengthen others. He cares deeply for people and will often been seen praying with or encouraging them.
Peter has been a part of Border City Church since day one and serves faithfully to help build what God is doing in Detroit.
JOHN DAVID NICHOLS
DEACON
John David is an artist who enjoys sketching and posting tutorials to his YouTube channel, with his faithful dog, Stanlee by his side.
JD (as some call him) is passionate about people experiencing Jesus and has served with this heart in each season of Border City Church.
Border City Church is in partnership with and accountable to New Covenant Ministries International (NCMI), a global Team that exists to help build and equip churches.
